Welcome! I'm The Geeky Dad, Welcome to my Den. Here I talk about a multitude of things...being a Dad of two beautiful daughters and the challenges it brings, current events, Nerdy News, Geeky Gossip, and anything that you could call "Geeky" by regular standards, all inter-mingled with my own spin. I'll talk about Video Games, Movies, Maybe a little Music, Popular Culture....whatever. Join My Saga
Hi there geeky dad. I saw your username over at the bloggeries forum and thought: A guy with that cool a nickname has to have got a blog I'd like. I don't think I was wrong :D
Anyway, your video blog! I'm not sure how you usually do movie reviews - if you do them at all - because I haven't looked at any more of your entries yet but may I request/suggest something? Maybe a teeny, tiny plot summary would be nice?
As for English/American/where ever from actors who try to speak in accents: I have two very good examples where it totally worked and sounded believable:
Kate Winslet in "The Reader". I'm German and I hate hearing our own accent (Mine isn't too strong - yay!) and when my friend and I started watching "The Reader" (of course in English because who'd want a German dubbing of Kate Winslet anyway?) we were thisclose to turning it off again because her accent was so acurat. She had a better German accent than any of the Germans playing in the movie!
The other example would be Alan Rickman in "Rasputin" where he fakes a Russian accent. Plus he acts brilliantly :)
Anyway, it was nice 'meeting' you and I'll definitiely stick around for a while to have a look at the rest of your blog :D
Sure thing :D I did my first reviewish entries without a summary until someone pointed out that it'd be quite nice to know what the movie is about before they read what I have to say lol I have to say, I'll agree ;)
Alright, I'll go and follow you on twitter now.
PS: Is there a reason why these comments appear in a pop-up while the one to your entry about the video blog is right underneath the entry?

Thank you for the feedback...you're right. I should include a summary. Learning as I go. Thank you for the constructive criticism
