Another Trip to Lohan La La Land

I'd hate to do this to everyone but I'm about to make another posting about Lindsay "I'm a celebrity and thus have no consequences to my actions" Lohan.  The latest is that she is supposedly going to be getting out of rehab early now.  Judge Marsha Revel had previously sentenced Lohan to 90 days in a rehabilitation program, but now that Revel has recused herself from the case, Lohan’s sentence could be modified.  “My understanding from conversations with [Lohan’s lawyer] Shawn Chapman Holley is that Miss Lohan could be released early from the treatment facility,” prosecutor Danette Meyers told Radar. “It is looking as if that is what the health care professionals are going to recommend. How much earlier she could be released I’m unsure of at this point.”  Holley told Radar that her client has made significant improvement and would like to return to acting as soon as possible.  "Ms. Lohan looks very good. She looks healthy,” Holley said. “My client is looking forward to returning to work on her many creative endeavors upon her release from the treatment facility."  

Once again the public servants are bowing to these celebrities just because they're famous.  Or in LiLo's case, Quasi-Famous-Semi-Hasbeen.  Oh My god....this judge should be removed from the bench for being so wishy washy. Either punish her or let her off...don't sentence her to do time in jail and a rehab facility then rescind what you just tried to implement.

Followup - Shatner for Governor General?

So Canada can breathe a collective sigh of relief.  The wonderful actor Bill Shatner will not be campaining to be Governor general despite the support of thousands of Facebook Fans.  The Chicago Sun-Times reports. Alas, he just can't afford the pay cut. "No way I'm giving up those Priceline commercials, plus everything else," he says. Not that I thought that he would seriously campaign...or even have a chance really..like I said in my previous blog...actors are good at being actors...but as a public servant and Representative of the country...I hope he sticks to acting.  I wish more actors would stick to acting and not try to sing..or dance...or do anything else..be happy being a famous actor.

Shatner as Governor General?

Ok,  For my first official post I want to comment on something that has been bouncing around in the Canadian media for a bit now.  For some reason there seems to be some wierd push to make Bill "Cap'n Kirk" Shatner our next governor general.  Now, to be fair, I think the guy is rad.  He's a major pop culture icon, starred in one of the most successful franchises in Sci-fi history, as an actor doesn't take himself too seriously and, to top it all off...he's a Canadian.  But because of this should he be given the job...me thinks not.  Gov. General is a pretty important roll and should not really be held by a celebrity.  Are they really that desperate for ratings on the house of commons channel that they would put ol' Kirky in the middle of the floor hoping that trekies (or trekers) will tune in en-masse to see the ol bill in a new bigger chair than the one he occupied for years on the USS Enterprise?  I had a bit of trouble accepting Adrian Clarkson as GG back in the day just because she was a semi celeb (as much as you can become being on the CBC) but Shatner?....Bones....it's....too.....much. 

In my limited experience, actors for the most part are a pretty eccentric and flakey bunch.  Great people for the TV and movies but as the Queen's rep in our government...ummmm.me no likey.  Canada already has a hard enough time on the world stage being taken seriously.  Can you imagine if Governor General TJ Hooker was one of the ways we got our identity in the world media?  Like I said..I like the guy..as an actor...Leave the acting to the actors and leave politics to the politicians.
