Geeky Dad 2.0

Well well well...has it really been over 3 months since I posted last?  My how time flies when you're having fun.  And Babies :)

To update my loyal readership (all 3 of you..baha) I must apologise.  I have been ...well busy.  My wife and I  had our second child just before Christmas so the life of the geeky dad just got a lot more intense.  Not only do I have a rambunctious 2 year old running around destroying my action figures with a toy lightsabre, but also a newborn as well.

yup...this really is her...cute isn't she!

She was a tad teeny (6lbs 1 oz) and a tad early (3 weeks early) but I've never been happier.  Especially since my wife actually went for the Name I wanted...Parker.  Which is kind of a cool girls name but also the Last name of my favourite Wall-Crawler's mild mannered alter-ego.

I've also been working on a few other things.  As you see from the photo above I do dabble in a little photography so I've been trying to get more business on the side for some extra cash as well as funding for an artsy project I want to get going as well.  Shameless Plug..go to My Website To see some of my portrait work.  Also I'm looking for models who...ahem...aren't shy...OK..I need people to get nekkid for me for this project so if you know anyone shoot me a comment or message me...contact info is on my website.

Every day is a new adventure and I can't wait to see what geeky leanings my newest Daughter will have

Oh and this is my 80th Blog post..Happy blogaversary!

I May End Up Eating my words

Some time ago I posted a blog about the then newly released iPad HERE.  If you're too lazy to read the whole post, Readers Digest version is this...in the post I basically talked about how useless I thought the whole thing was and how I would never ever ever own one.

Well I May end up eating my words

Yesterday I went to Future Shop to pick up a couple of things with my little girl and ended up looking around the store..just browsing as I told the many sales people who were stalking me.  As a side note, I hate that, just once I'd like to marvel over the latest gadget without some pimply faced university student harassing me to buy something.  But I digress.  So in my wandering I find a display with the iPads out to look at and play with.  Initially I rolled my eyes and fully intended on walking right past, but something in me drew me to that table.  Maybe it was the pretty display, more likely it was my gadget-loving instincts that pulled me to the table like an injured animal looks for water.  So I picked the thing up...and, Oh, My, God.  It was a pretty neat thing to play with.  I navigated through pictures and couldn't help but think how great this thing would make my own photography look.  I had a gander at a movie or two and they looked very good.  Bottom line after my short stint playing with it

ME WANT

I haven't bought one yet so I have yet to truly eat my words, but I imagine it will happen

My Riverdance Saga

Recently I had someone ask me about a Twitter Exchange they saw on my Blog Sidebar between my friend Ann-Marie and myself.  It Went something like this

Ann Marie Pincivero   ampincivero  @usethefarce I heard that you pulled a muscle Riverdancing?! Sorry I missed that! UR hilarious. Have a great weekend. Cheers. :)

Geeky Dad
usethefarce Who me? Lies I tells ya.

ampincivero @usethefarce A little bird told me. She's a nice bird. Seems trustworthy. :)

ampincivero @usethefarce But I know "Believe none of what you hear, half what you see & all that you experience." Come Riverdance at Ribfest tomorrow!

usethefarce @ampincivero it is true. But I'll save you the visual. Trust me its better for both of us. Was a one time thing I'll probably not live down

ampincivero  @usethefarce I wish I'd been there to see the once in a lifetime performance! :)

Let me explain a couple of things before I go too far.  First I work shifts...both days and nights.  Sometimes nightshifts are long and boring and often around 3 am two things happen to me.  I start to get a little silly/punchy..and I get a second wind.  Which is basically a "Perfect Storm" of comedy and embarrassment, comedy for my coworkers and embarrassment for me.
On this particular night I received an email with the following video
Now to this day I have no idea what came over me...but in talking/laughing about his video I thought it would be ok for me to regale my coworkers with my own version of the Riverdance (sans headband sadly)

Well two things happened..first I got what was possibly the biggest laugh of my life...the second?  I pulled a goddamn muscle.  Not in my legs, or hips, or even anywhere on my lower body.  I pulled a muscle....IN MY UPPER ARM...whaaa?  Yes..in my arm...in throwing my arms down stiffly at my sides I pulled a shoulder muscle.  Ouchie...and boy did that point out just how out of shape I am.  (I still say that I am, in fact, in shape...round is a shape damnit)

So this twitter exchange was just lat week...the event..occurred over a year ago.  Needless to say, I will probably never live this down.  I'm also constantly being asked to recreate it..which I really can't.  I tell people it was a once in a lifetime performance.  And if how my coworkers reacted to this time is any indication, I'll be much more careful where I direct my 3 am silly energy in the future.

Oh...incidentally, if you enjoy music and great song writing you should check out my friend Ann-Marie's YOU TUBE CHANNEL and Follow her on TWITTER
